Discussion: Best Practical Reuse

V3_judges2

The top ten practical reuses of the orange bin as selected by the judges are shown below.  Included in the 102 entries in the “practical category,” there were multiple ideas that were similar, (ie: using the orange bin to take returnable cans and bottles back to the store.)   The judges had the difficult task of diligently reviewing each entry to select these finalists.

Remember, these are our friends and neighbors of all ages who submitted these ideas. We welcome constructive, respectful and positive comments if you wish to post.

When I see bright orange, I think SAFETY! Every Windsor family could use their recycling bin to build an emergency preparedness kit. We filled ours with bottled water, flashlights, batteries, non-perishable food, and a first-aid kit. The bright orange bin will be easy to locate, even in a power outage!

I use two empty 40 lb. covered plastic cat litter tubs for mine; but, for those who are cat-less and don't already have an emergency preparedness kit, this is a perfect idea. You also got my vote for simply reminding people of the need to have a kit.
