The Windsor Emergency Alert System provides accurate, immediate emergency notifications from the Town of Windsor to your cell or home phone. Receive notifications about emergencies that may affect your home, workplace, child's school, parents' home, or any other locations within the town. Residents that use AT&T landlines will automatically receive emergency notifications. However, if your primary phone is a cell phone, the only way we can notify you of an emergency is to sign up on our website: http://townofwindsorct.com/pages/towninfo/emergency/.

The top ten practical reuses of the orange bin as selected by the judges are shown below.  Included in the 102 entries in the “practical category,” there were multiple ideas that were similar, (ie: using the orange bin to take returnable cans and bottles back to the store.)   The judges had the difficult task of diligently reviewing each entry to select these finalists.

Big Blue is here!  Single-stream recycling rolling carts will be delivered during the week of June 23rd.  Place your recyclables in Big Blue and place it out at the curb every other week.  Automated collection of recycling, of which Big Blue enables, helps to increase recycling, limit litter, and cut fuel costs.  Questions about collection service should be directed to Windsor Sanitation at 860-688-3955.

The Planning Department and the Town Planning and Zoning Commission is in the process of updating the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD).

The POCD outlines visions, goals, and strategies to guide conservation and development in Windsor over the next ten years and beyond. Topics include residential development, historic resources, economic development, transportation, natural resources, open space, agricultural resources, community facilities, enhancing the villages, utilities, and the Day Hill Corporate Area.

Several draft chapters are available for your review on the Planning Department website.

We want your input! How can we continue to make Windsor a desirable community to live, work, and play?

In 2012 the Windsor Board of Education implemented an elementary school reorganization that changed the boundaries for full day kindergarten programs within the district. The kindergarten programs were placed in other school facilities therefore the classroom space at the Wolcott Early Childhood School was no longer needed.  In the summer of 2013 the Board of Education voted to turn over the control of the building to the Windsor Town Council.  Since that time the building has been partially occupied by Team Paragon a community based not-for profit organization.
